In celebration of Canada Day 2025, Ghanafest Alberta is teaming up with BuzStopBoys, the Old Vandals Association, and City Xtra to launch a community-wide clean-up campaign in Accra. Branded the “Operation Clean Up Campaign,” the initiative is set to take place on Tuesday, 1st July 2025, starting at 9:00 AM. The effort is part of the Canada Day Jamboree festivities and aims to promote environmental responsibility while strengthening community collaboration.
The clean-up will cover two key locations: the vicinity of the Legon Hospital and the stretch from Legon to the Okponlo Underpass. Organizers are calling on residents, volunteers, and local groups to join hands in ridding these areas of litter and debris. The campaign is also expected to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining clean public spaces and to encourage sustainable habits among citizens.
The event underscores the growing partnership between Ghanaian communities and international civic groups. Through initiatives like this, Canada Day celebrations are evolving beyond cultural festivities into acts of service that benefit the wider society. The organizers have expressed hope that this campaign will not only leave a visible impact but also inspire a long-term culture of cleanliness and civic pride.
